Rapper Dance – we have only one dance from England, but it is a peculiarity which (as far as we know) nobody else in the Czech Republic dances. The choreography does not have its own name, but the dance belongs to rapper dances or if you wish, sword dances. It is based on a tradition which dates back several centuries. It is danced by 5 men, each of them holding a rapper. Originally they were real rappers, but later they were replaced by flexible length of steel with a handle on each end. Dancers form the figures together holding each other throughout the entire dance. The figures are accompanied by simple tapping in the jig rhythm. Performance duration 3:10 |
